Moving a 250 kg upright is not the same as a 600 kg concert grand. Crew, materials and price change.
Upright / studio
110-130 cm · 200-250 kg
The most common in homes. Requires 3-4 movers, padded corner protectors and a specific 4-wheel piano dolly with brakes.
Baby grand
150-200 cm · 300-400 kg
Legs, pedals and music stand are removed, labelling every screw by piece. Transported on its side over a padded piano board.
Concert grand
200-270 cm · 450-600 kg
Specialised crew of 5-6 people and strict logistical coordination. Almost always requires an external furniture lift.
Large digital piano
Kawai MP-11 · Nord Grand
No string fragility but plenty of electronic sensitivity. Custom technical crate with ESD and anti-vibration protection.

Mandatory prior visit
We measure doors, corridors, lifts and stairs. A grand piano rarely fits a standard residential lift: we plan an external furniture lift from the outset.
Partial dismantling
For grand pianos, ordered removal of legs, pedals, music stand and top lid · we label every screw piece by piece for identical reassembly.
Technical padding
Piano-specific quilted blankets, rigid corner protectors, moisture-resistant elastomer film and certified wide-load straps.
Move to the truck
Upright: 4-wheel braked dolly by stairs if applicable · Grand: hoisted by external lift straight into the truck with no re-grips.
Transport with air suspension
Strapped to the truck floor over an anti-slip board · air-suspension vehicle absorbing road vibration and potholes.
Unload and reassemble at destination
Exact reverse of the process: unload with the lift, placement in the agreed spot, reassembly of legs and stand, precision levelling.
Piano tuner recommendation
After any transport, a piano must rest 7-14 days before being tuned. We do not include tuning in the service, but we hand you contacts of trusted piano tuners in Madrid.

Outside Madrid capital: ask for per-kilometre surcharge. We move pianos from Madrid anywhere in Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands (with customs paperwork).
What to demand from any company moving your piano
A piano damaged in transit is a loss of thousands of euros. Before hiring, verify these 5 points.
Cargo insurance with declared value
A mid-range grand piano is worth €15,000-30,000. Without declaring value, standard insurance pays by weight/m³ like any other furniture — insufficient. Insist on declaring the real value.
Proven piano experience
Request specific references: conservatoires, concert halls, private clients who have already used the company. "We do removals" is not enough.
Own piano dolly and grand piano board
A standard removals dolly is not enough. Ask to see the piano dolly (4 braked wheels, wide straps) and the specific grand piano board.
On-site prior technical visit
Never accept a phone quote without a site visit: the company must measure doors, corridors, lifts and stairs to plan properly.
Minimum 3-4 experienced movers
A piano is not moved by 2 people no matter how strong. Upright: 3-4 minimum. Baby grand: 4. Concert grand: 5-6. Fewer staff = more risk.
